But the little scraper/polisher is just great. I was happy with the old gift card, but this one really works better. It's a bit thicker and slightly rounded, allowing you to put more pressure on it. It was great for creating small detailed names for music folders.

The scraper works great on small bits on the mat left after removing the cut out main image. I used the spatula more to spread the paste over the stencils when making postcards. I found it difficult at times to place it under the cutout when it's on the mat and end up using another tool to lift it up.

A spatula is best for separating a thin section from a sticky mat, while a scraper is the best way to remove any residue from the mat. Prior to ordering this tool it was almost impossible to remove the die cuts from the mat. I can now use my Cricut without my parts being mangled or torn by attempts to remove them. I tried to find an alternative to this product before purchasing it, but there really is no substitute for this little tool when using Cricut! This is a necessary item! I really like these tools. I have a Silhouette cutting machine and have been using the spatula and scraper that came with it for a number of years. I saw some reviews of Cricut tools and finally decided to give them a try. I don't see a BIG difference between the two scrapers other than the Cricut being more comfortable to hold. But I really like Cricut's thinner, more flexible, and larger spatula to make cutting cutouts on the cutting mat easier. Thank you Cricut!

When I was new to Cricut, I didn't order a spatula or scraper with my machine. I thought it was an extra encore. I've tested various household items and even used a butcher knife a couple of times to remove paper cuts from the mat (not recommended).
