I, like most, didn't want to buy this as the expensive ones are $1500-$2000 and for $100 I took the risk. I'm really shocked. As a weekend warrior in the life of a garage mechanic, I wanted something I could use infrequently and still work when needed. So I bought that. To start, I had status DTCs P0171 and P0174 Lean Bank 1 and Lean Bank 2 for my 2003 GMC Yukon, and I knew that many 5.3 engines had horrible intake manifold gaskets, so I wanted to smoke test it. The stores here in Vegas were charging $80 for it, so the purchase evened out the score. I hooked up my EVAP car and added mineral oil marble, then hooked up MY AIR COMPRESSOR (yes you'll need it to start the smoke) and finally hooked up my terminals to plus and minus. Used the fuel pressure regulator as the inlet and slipped a latex glove over the inlet pipe. After about 1 minute I saw smoke coming from both sides of the intake manifold and engine head. BINGO. Long story short I would spend $100 on this again and heartily recommend it as a garage/small shop EVAP smoke machine.
