Review on NETGEAR WGT624NA Wireless Firewall Router by Timothy Harper

This was my first attempt at wireless technology for home computing and I was pleasantly surprised. Here is my detailed review: Pros -1. Easy installation. It took me about 15 minutes to set up the router using the setup wizard.2. Great price - less than $50 after discount. That's hard to beat, especially if you're buying a 108Mbps PCI or PCMCIA card. Otherwise the price is comparable to other 54Mbps routers.3. Amazing security features. The router has MAC address control, WPA and NAT+SPI firewall functions. It's all easy to set up, and the screen displays definitions of each feature as you select them from the router's menu. So I was able to easily configure the security settings of the router even without a manual.4. range and signal strength. One of my computers is about 100 feet away and there are 5 walls between the router and the computer and I never lose signal and never drop below 11 Mbps. Now when I'm under 50 feet I get it 90% of the time 54Mbps with 2 walls. From what I've read it's pretty good. system stability. I've seen several other reviews about router reboots or computer issues. This router has been working for me for more than 2 weeks without a single reset or problems on my computer. I currently have WinXP with SP2. I'm actually using a Linksys 54 Mbps PCI card, so I haven't noticed any problems with components from different brands either. ---------------- ------------------------------- Disadvantages -1 . router case. Despite being an attractive router, its body is not sturdy. They could have made it out of a thicker plastic mold or out of a stronger material. You just have to be careful where you put the router.------------------------------ -------- ------- ------------- Overall - 5 stars, I highly recommend this router. If you are looking for a WiFi router and need security, stability and performance, this is the router for you. Just read the manual first and use the installation wizard.
