Review on Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 Image Stabilized USM SLR Lens for EOS Digital SLR Cameras - White Box (Bulk Packaging) by Kenji Mogi ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I'm completely satisfied with the product, it works.

GLASS ON CROPS - THIS IS NOT A DEFECT - THIS IS A CONSTRUCTION. (DO NOT SPEECH) FOR THIS PRICE AND THE FILLING IS DARK? ha ha . there are 17-55 f 2.8. If you want with FF in mind - take Canon EF 28-135 mm f/ 3.5-5.6 IS USM (analogue) The quality-price ratio (9-10 thousand) is good. The hood is welcome, Universal zoom for every day - fishing, hiking, walking, etc. On the secondary, you can sell for 8-9 thousand (which I did - now fixes are standard) FROM ultrazooms also take a look at Canon EF-S 15-85 mm f/ 3.5-5.6 IS USM or Sigma DC C 17-70 mm f/ 2.8-4 Macro OS HSM (new model - start of production 2022) both are one step higher but a little more expensive

Pros
  • Optics : center resolution, acceptable astigmatism, coma Mechanics: stabilizer working and very quiet: 2-3 stops, USM ring - focus adjustment without switching, Internal focusing - polarizer without problems Price, weight and size for 5x zoom,
Cons
  • Optics : 17mm in the furnace : barrel, aberration, vignette, distortion, edge resolution 17-40mm Mechanics: the lens block falls out over time under its own weight and there is no retainer (but put on a tight rubber ring under the zoom ring of the lens and smile) Dust, but how much it will depend on the photographer

Not a bad choice for experienced hobbyists, a good claim to versatility.
