I hate leaving less than 5 star reviews. But sometimes you just have to do it. I read reviews before purchasing and saw that some people said the ramp slides off the bumper/doorsill/step and the dog didn't like it. So I decided to buy it anyway and just found a way to secure it so it doesn't slip off. It's like a ramp for your tailgate to load lawn mowers or ATVs, anything going up or down the ramp can cause it to detach from the tailgate if you don't use cable hooks to keep it in place to keep. So I got the ramp, decided it would be best to lean on my truck's retractable step, and installed short straps with hooks on each side to keep the ramp from sliding off the step when the dog up or expires. BUT. the straps allow the ramp to slide slightly sideways. I wasn't worried about the side issue because MY dog was moving right up or down the ramp. Spring. The first time I tried to get her up the ramp, she didn't understand. I tried to show her and drive her to the end of the ramp. She struggled, and before I could stop her, she tried to climb up the side of the ramp. He slipped a little and it scared her. And no matter how many times and no matter how I tried to make her forget the experience and get it right, it was no dice. She's done with it. She wouldn't fall for that "joke" twice! Because cars and applications vary so much and there is no way to make a clip or fastener that will work in every situation, the manufacturer really has to come up with something. the underside of the top of the ramp NOT sliding. Since they haven't slid yet (and probably won't) and I've only had one chance to think things through and I obviously missed the side slide, that $55 was completely wasted. Anyone want to buy an unused dog ramp? I'll make you a good deal!
