I went from 5820k to this beast. All I can say is WOW. The research I've done shows it's basically Intel's flagship processor, but a half step down. One thing I didn't know about my 5820k was how much it holds my entire system back. Passmark benchmarks have been increased for EVERY component. My 5 year old RAM is now running in the 99th percentile. My 2070 Super is not the bottleneck. Heck, even my crappy old SSD got better. but was then ruthlessly replaced by a younger, sexier, and much more modern NVME drive (hey, if you go big, go big). Very happy with it. It's worth every penny. I still scratch myself that I paid less for it than I did for my 5820k and that I bought it when they weren't even second generation. and it is a first generation device. but I thought I could thank AMD for that. It helps when a 'little brother' competitor suddenly beats you for less than you're asking. But hey, it works for us Intel fans so we can get our solution cheaper! The only negative is that it keeps all my fans/cooling running at full speed under load. but still runs fine with oil in most applications. Most of what I do primarily uses the GPU, but having the right CPU for it makes a huge difference in all the 3D applications I use. For reference I hooked it up to a Corsair h100i cooling system which seems to keep it cool well. These days I can't imagine anything other than liquid cooling in a high-end CPU. Now I can finally get my hands on that super awesome 10GB GPU that everyone has been craving since September and that I've been backing up ever since. I'll be in VR/gaming/3D rendering/3D modeling heaven.
