My son is 8 years old and wears a size 10. I bought a medium sized down jacket from Pacific Trails and it fits him well. The length goes beyond the floor. It's light, feels like a feather, and the lining is thin. I would like something more powerful; but my son likes it, maybe because it doesn't seem too bulky. This is normal for mild Southern California winters. I'm not sure what I would like if we lived in an area that got snow. The outer nylon feels flimsy and I'm not sure it will stand up to rough play. Luckily my son doesn't wallow in the mud. It was raining and my son wore it to school. He says,
