It comes in a wooden box, not a blue plastic box. They haven't used a plastic case in years. The GOOD This kit has large manufacturing tolerances so I was willing to pay the extra money. The squares themselves are very good and come in oiled bags to keep them from rusting. Also, the customer support is fantastic and everyone at this company is very nice and helpful. You can pick up the phone and contact someone right away. And if you leave a message, you will be called back immediately. POOR (Case) It is strange that an instrument with higher precision should come in such a poor quality case. Looks ok but not for heavy use. A fall and the box will be completely destroyed and possibly even the squares inside. I had to order the device 3 times until I received a case that was not destroyed. See photo. Also, the latches are very small and flimsy, as are the hinges. They touch the wooden outer walls in squares, so there's not much room to soften the blow. Also, the foam was deformed on two blocks, and the squares were delivered out of place and on top of each other. There was no damage as far as I could tell, but I didn't feel like it was accurate yet. If you keep it in a store like we did, the box will end up getting oily and just plain bad looking. Unless we accidentally drop it and ruin all our tools. GOOD TO HAVE It would also be great if they came with manufacturer's certificates confirming that they meet the specified tolerances. Tech support said they will provide calibration certificates but you have to submit them. And sending them back and forth in this box is questionable at best. So it's practically not an option unless I box them individually in my own packaging. It would be great if they offered both on their website and it came in a serious protective case. SUMMARY If you could come in a sturdy plastic case and buy a kit with a certificate of calibration, this would be the perfect product.
