3 time wasters - don't buy

This reasonably priced base unit (discounted) was everything I wanted in a vacuum sealer and I thought the FoodSaver brand should be the best. It has a small footprint so it can sit on my kitchen countertop all the time and not hidden somewhere. Features an easy-to-clean, removable drip tray. It has an extra port so it can be used to seal reusable vacuum bags and ziplock containers. It automatically vacuums and seals or just seals (ideal for resealing packaged items that are in their original pouches, such as frozen veggies and cereal). Please note that this machine is designed for easy use in the home kitchen. You must let it cool for at least 20 seconds between uses. But that doesn't matter, because this FoodSaver vacuum sealer is so badly designed that each of the three devices fails after only a few uses in a row. On all three devices, the gray plastic ring in the accessory port ruptured, causing the device to leak air and not create a vacuum. After contacting the FoodSaver when the first one broke, they told me it was a non-user replaceable product and that I should return the Revain unit. So I tried 3 of these devices in a row before I gave up. Every one of them broke and my only conclusion is that it's either a design flaw or a defective part. I don't know if it was the use of packaging sealed by the device or the use of the accessory port or both that caused this part to fail because I used both. All I know is that these devices are not worth buying at any price. I scratch my head as to why there are so many good reviews. I am very disappointed that this machine failed. I have a large collection of FoodSaver brand bags that I bought from her and now I need to buy a different and probably much more expensive unit.
