Limited use, needs revision

The plastic case snapped at the threads on first use (and I didn't over tighten it). The second fared better, but its use was very limited. Difficult to cut through plywood. I think 1/8 inch is all you can use with that. Movement is difficult to modulate. Too slow and the tree burns, too fast and the bat gets stuck. Same thing when used with an ABS sheet, only the plastic melts and the cut quality is mediocre to say the least. I can cut aluminum sheet faster with a hacksaw. Holes for recessed lights. I was working from the attic and the tool's compact size helped get into the tightest of spots. You need to make sure that the central tip is fixed, otherwise it will drift away from all vibrations and instead of a circle, you will get a half-spiral shape. Also, you need to set the radius first - use cardboard for this. After all, you will need a helper to unplug the plugs to catch and have the vacuum cleaner ready as plasterboard scraps will simply accumulate around the perimeter of the cut and fall off as soon as you touch it. A few simple design changes This jig can be made more suitable for the following tasks: - Enlarge the body around the threads - Make the shoulder wider and flatter (bend the metal the other way) so it can slide more smoothly - Joining Add a spring washer to the center pin, or provide an additional thru-bolt

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Hard to tell
