Review on TEECOO 50pcs Battery Tea Lights: Realistic Flickering Flameless LED Tealights for Party Decor and Gift Ideas by Alex Mitra

Revainrating 3 out of 5

No longer effective with batteries.

UPDATE! They have changed the electronics since my original review in January 2018. I had to downgrade my rating from 5 stars to 3 stars as the battery now only lasts 2-3 months in automatic mode. Standby current increased 5 times, from 0.23mA to 1.2mA. And the brightness is now strongly dependent on the battery voltage - particularly noticeable with NiMH batteries, which I would recommend as the only cells to do so. Otherwise you'll be going through more than 6 alkalines per year per candle if you set them to turn on automatically every night. Good thing they're still using AA instead of AAA — and the two sets I just bought in August 2018 are only $11 each. which was the best gift. All three share the same ivory "dancing" plastic wick and use the same 10-button remote with the same 2-hour/4-hour/6-hour/8-hour timer and 19 levels of brightness. This set had an unexpectedly light vanilla scent. But it differed from the other two sets in another important aspect: each candle uses 2 AA cells instead of 3 AAA cells. And since 2 AA batteries are twice as powerful as 3 AAA batteries, the batteries should last twice as long. Since AA batteries are often the same price as AAA batteries, annual battery costs can be reduced by up to 67%! Seasoned frugal consumers should keep this in mind. With a meager quiescent current of 0.23mA and only 3-15mA when switched on, alkaline batteries should provide four hours of candlelight per day, depending on brightness, for 1 to 5 months - 3 to 8 months with rechargeable batteries. Cute!
