I used to have battery-powered socks for snowy days. Overpriced, itchy, unnoticeable heat, 4 D-cell batteries hanging from the sides like lead clusters. Cannot be machine washed. I didn't even know toe warmers even existed until I bought them at the drug store. I didn't mind shoveling snow back then. The best thing is that they do their job. Cold feet become warm, warm feet stay warm. They always work. If you MUST wear dress shoes: low or mid heel pumps, boots or loafers, wear high density stockings. If you haven't used heating pads or you have a new pair of shoes, make sure your stockings are thick enough and the heating pads are placed comfortably. I wouldn't recommend them in high heels.
