Okay so this summer, we got hooked on preparing our own Oysters. Our daughter taught us how and now my husband thinks he's on the road to becoming a professional Oyster shucker. He opened up a bunch without gloves and I literally had a crisis when he showed me his hands after shucking. He was all cut up and literally yelped when he squeezed a lemon on his oysters. No more.I quickly ordered & received these gloves. First Oyster the knife slipped and went across the palm of his hand (he was wearing his gloves - thank the Lord)! No wound, no emergency trip to the ER, no hand surgeons, or hand specialists. We have kinda gone down this route before if you haven't guessed. I highly recommend these gloves for general safety (you could even wear them when eating lobster, protect your hands) or for shucking any kind of shellfish. My only "issue" is that I had to hand wash these gloves with dawn and allow to air dry. I didn't think it would be sanitary to just throw in the washer machine bc I didn't want the washing tub to smell like seafood forever. I could bleach the washer tub but c'mon more work.so I passed and hand washed. These gloves do run true to size. My husband has very large hands and the large fit perfectly. Our daughter has very small hands - so I bought her size appropriate and they fit perfectly. If you care about the safety of the person preparing the seafood that needed to be shelled or shucked - these are the route to take. Enjoy and take a deep breath of relief because that's what I was able to do after purchasing these. They do hold the seafood scent so a quick spray of lemon juice after the dawn when washing did rid them of any seafood smell.
