I once cut out styrofoam insulation boards that fit under the aquarium. They held up well but looked a bit cheesy. They were a necessary evil when it came to using subpar aquarium stands. This product has the benefits of those foam sheets but looks a lot better and appears to be a lot more durable. I would use them in all small aquariums, especially ones that are small enough not to create stands for them (bookshelf/table sized aquariums). I feel this would greatly extend the life of the silicone that holds the aquarium together and would be very helpful in protecting the surface the aquarium sits on.
