I purchased this cotton candy maker after giving up on the previous model I bought that had a black flying saucer shaped spinner head. (Nostalgia Retro Cotton Candy Maker)The previous cotton candy maker's saucer shaped spinner head would always become too gunked up to use after about 3 sugar loadings, and the cotton candy made from hard candy was always much more dense, and was sometimes too heavy to be gathered onto a cone.Cleaning the saucer shaped spindle was always a nightmare. The spindle was extremely difficult to remove and required rough handling to pry it off the machine. Eventually this loosens the stem sticking up from the motor that the spindle attaches to, and the machine begins to make so much rattling noise when spinning that you can hardly yell over it.This machine can run for much longer before requiring cleaning, and spins hard candy just as fluffy as regular sugar. There are also tiny fan blades turning under the spinner head that helps to blow the heavier hard candy floss upward to gather on a cone.Cleaning is much easier because there is a screw that allows you to easily remove the entire spinner head assembly without rough handling. You can then just soak the spinner assembly in warm soapy water to completely clean it.Highly recommend this machine and its design.
