Review on ๐Ÿ”’ Enhanced Security Combo: Kwikset Juno Keyed Entry Door Knob and Deadbolt Pack with Microban Antimicrobial Protection and SmartKey Security in Satin Nickel by Scott Lavimodiere

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A tool must be ordered for the left door. Non-standard knob position. Handle assembly requires cutting

The kit does not include a special tool to reverse the cylinder. So you need to order a free tool if you want the keyway to be on the top right of the left door. (The instructions for the kit say it's ok if it's upside down. Maybe they're ok, but not mine!) The tool looks very cheap, should come with it! I'm installing 10 of these today and have to return half of them, disassemble and reassemble after the tools arrive. Another problem: the knobs on Kwikset locks are vertical for locking and horizontal for unlocking. Very odd and unintuitive, unlike any other brand I've seen. Kwikset appears to have a smart key patent which is why I bought them. If another manufacturer had similar technology I would go elsewhere! Another problem: the instructions say to make a 2-1/8 inch hole. My steel door has a 2-1/8" precut hole, but when the handle is installed, the escutcheon protrudes 1-2mm beyond the door, ie. There is a gap between the door and the handle. It turns out, that the molded handle assembly has two pins spaced 2-3/8" apart (see photo). I had to put them down so the handle assembly fits snugly against the door. Ensure the stability of a wood door by using a relatively soft Penetrate wood surface Kwikset should be aware that there are many steel doors and guidance would be helpful!
