Some of my gears came with crappy alligator clips so I bought them to fix them repair. But these were worse when they were new. These clips are made of flimsy metal and the rivets are poorly formed so they don't hold well so the clips just want to fall apart. I had to solder the rivets on the outside to prevent them from failing the first time. If you snap something in as intended, the thin metal deforms immediately, if you snap it in on one side, the clips twist so that the rivet pops out. Springs are stronger than rivets. and metal clips. So when you cut something, the clip tries to tear itself apart. Some clips are very similar to good clips, but they are very poorly made. Some clips are fixable, if you squeeze the frame with the rivet so the rivet sticks out about 3mm, you can solder the rivet to the outer pivot and suddenly the clip holds alignment. The rivets were badly punched and this needs to be fixed to make them behave better. It won't fix brittle metal, but it will make them act like alligator clips when you try to use them. They are light, but in this case it's not very good. There are other issues specific to different sizes, but suffice it to say this set is not what it seems if you assume all clips are usable as many sizes are useless. If you decide to redo them like I did when soldering the rivets, be careful not to let the solder run between the clip halves as that would be bad.
