reasonably priced for a brand new graphics card. Robust DXVA capabilities for HTPC. Worked great to replace a dying 7600GS in my dad's computer. Very low power consumption. Passive cooling may not be enough for this card if you do a lot of work and have a case with very little airflow. My dad's small form factor computer only ran light games in the 80's. I zipped a thin 40mm silent fan to it and it was easy enough to keep it cool. Now if you play for many hours, the temperature will not rise above 60*C. So be aware that the cooler is too small to be a good passive cooler for gaming and DXVA in an ultra-tight case. With better airflow, this is probably not such a problem. It's paired with a 2.93GHz C2D E7500 Wolfdale and 8GB DDR-2 800 RAM, so not the best PC out there, but enough to push this card well enough. It runs Youtube, Netflix and Media Player Classic with mkv 1080p without problems. It has an HDMI output, making it good for our occasional HTPC needs. Again, the card runs well with DXVA, but not brilliantly. Combined with the processor, this is more than enough to handle the high bitrates of 1080p, which is the goal. For this it is quite useful despite the low performance. Better in DXVA than 7600GS by far. Modern features but very poor performance. Older games run slightly worse than the old 7600GS it replaced, but newer games are slightly better. This card isn't meant for gaming, but it would be nice if it lived up to its specs. It's not as disastrous as the GT210, with just poor performance, but it's pretty weak. However, Source games run fine with reduced settings and Battlefield 1942, Call of Duty/UO and a host of other popular legacy games. . My dad uses it to play Rome Total War and Medieval 2 which is almost finished and running which makes him happy. Runs most lighter newer games on low settings. So it's not entirely helpless, but it's also not designed to compete as a playing card. AMD APUs are much faster than these, and those built into the newer Intel processors are much faster too. However, for my dad's old computer, this MSI GT710 was a perfectly reasonable replacement.
