Works quite well as a data logger but requires a computer to start and stop logging.

I bought this for work to test the noise levels of some of our units and see if we need to do some noise reduction. It works great as a field meter, just turn it on and it works. It also works well as a data logger, although I had to hook it up to a computer and adjust the recording settings to get it recording. Once the recording started I was able to remove it from the computer and the recording continued. However, I couldn't get it to stop recording or start recording again without plugging it back into the computer. It's not mentioned in the instructions or anywhere else I've looked, so I think it could be a bug and isn't intentional. Loading the data was easy enough, just stop recording and click the download data button in the software. There is also a function to save data to an Excel file, but when I tried that, it kept giving errors; So I tried saving it as a text file and then I was able to convert that text file to Excel. I did a test and logged for 3000 data points every second, after about half an hour I stopped it and was able to easily load and open over 1800 data points. I took off a star because the recording won't start and stop unless connected to a computer running the software, but that's the only real issue I had.

Pros
  • WITH ALL USEFUL FUNCTIONS - Bright LED display, battery powered, simple and convenient to use, easy to carry, excellent stability and low power consumption display.
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
