Hardware is fine, software not well thought out

This smart switch does the job, but its software is rather limited. It works, but it's not amazing. I have a bunch of Hue hardware as well as unmanaged Phillips LEDs. Overall, the company makes a good product, but I'm not blown away by the Hue line considering what it could be with some small software tweaks. Installation: First, the instructions for adding this switch to the controller are outdated. You'll need to remove the back of the switch to access the pairing button, but it's not required. Save yourself the hassle of finding a tiny screwdriver and trying to plug it in without performing a reset. Pairing was easy via the Hue app. A switch can be assigned to a luminaire or a series of luminaires, a room or a zone. I brought him into the world. With the Hue app you can assign 5 states to the switch. I chose the last state and 4 daylight colors. You can also set the Press and Hold feature to take no action, turn off all lights, or dim the assigned light. I decided to do nothing. Usage: This is where it starts to fall apart, and I think the issues are severe enough to deduct two stars. To turn on the light, press the switch. quick follow up. If you do this right after turning on the light, you can just click until you get to the scene you want. If you want to change scenes for lights/rooms/zones that are already on, you can quickly press which will change the scene or turn off the light. annoys. You see, you push the switch to turn on the light. After about 3 seconds, press the switch again, the light goes out, so if the light is already on and you try to change the scene, you have to press it one by one, which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Here's the kicker. If you click on the light, it will turn off. If you click again it will stay off as that was the last state. derp There is a press and hold option to turn off all lights. The roller, the nut is just the light it is connected to. I expect that pressing and holding a switch will only turn off the lights associated with it OR turn off all lights as a separate option. Honestly, this is easy to fix with software. As a result, I have to adapt my behavior to a product that removes shine. It's still useful, but less useful than it could be.
