The only thing you need to know is that inside there is an inlet and an outlet. The position for the outlet is the same as the hole in the filter basket. If you don't align them properly it will not seat properly on the gasket, it will leak and possibly many of the problems I've read about in previous reviews. The only problem is that it's not listed in the instructions at all. While it operates silently, it has good filtering ability, but with no flow regulator.
