Construction of a mahogany pergola. I needed a Forstner bit to drill some flat bottomed holes in my construction screw gussets. I wanted a nice clean hole and it had to be 3 inches deep. I didn't dare to make these holes with a shovel. Because mahogany is soft, I lowered the price and bought a set of Ryobi Forstner bits from Home Depot. They were rubbish and didn't give a clean hole. Also, they weren't that spicy. I have purchased several Freud cutters over the years and they have always been of good quality. I found this piece on Revain and it was the perfect size. It costs twice as much as the entire Ryobi set (8 bits) but I would do it again in a heartbeat. This racket is sharp and of very good quality. I just made the final hole in the final scarf and they are all beautifully carved. You can't go cheap if you want a quality tool.
