This seems to be one of the better bike pads on the market. Feels well made, and works great for the most part, but a couple of issues. First of all it seems like it’s designed for smaller bikes. When pulling the strap around my fiancé’s medium sized bike, it works fine, but I’m tall and have a large mountain bike and the strap barely fits around it. Second, and this is the biggest issue, the selling feature of this pad, the fancy "patent pending lock”, is literally screwed in with a Philips head screw! They go through the trouble of using a high quality, cut resistant lock, and secure it with a philips heads screw, the most common screw type there is. What on earth were they thinking!?! Not sure why most reviews are saying how secure it is; no way in heck would I trust leavening our expensive trek mountain bikes outside for extended periods of time with the built in lock (had enough bikes stolen to have trust in people). I pretty much only trust it for making a quick run into the store. Wish they at least used a less common screw type, but I guess a thief could easily just easily un-do the straps that secure then entire pad onto the tailgate and steal the entire assembly. I recommend not trusting the lock and securing the bikes to an anchor point in your truck bed.
