Review on Walnut Wood Finish Garage Door Paint Kit: Achieve a Stunning Black Walnut Look! by Kyle Ross

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Not as easy as shown in the video. Dark color - more work.

Almost everything was included in this set. It looks like it's just a flat base color and a gel stain. I watched the video and now I understand why they chose this color. This color requires a lot more work than the one in the video. The instructions say it will take around 4 hours but it will take longer. To achieve a deep tint of black walnut in the image. The mitt seems to make it easier to apply but I found it difficult and it rolled while trying to wipe the stain. Maybe my hands are too small. I used it anyway, but it hurt. I tried using a primer roller but it kept creating bubbles of paint so I had to scrub the entire garage door twice. Also, no roller tray was included so I had no other option to apply paint to the roller other than to use a brush and apply the paint that way. This is easily remedied by buying a tray, but it's so cheap I was surprised it wasn't included. It took me a little over an hour to apply the base coat. Spot has brought me in twos so far. (not counting drying time) I say for now because I need to add a second coat but I don't have daylight. The guy in the video must have had some practice with the application because the video showed it was going to be easy, but it wasn't. Easy to use app, at least I was expecting some work. I hope I didn't break the garage door and can fix the strips tomorrow. My husband is not happy. It definitely takes more work than I thought. I'm disappointed in the time it takes. Based on the video, I expected the job to be done quickly before my husband got home. A more accurate time estimate would be helpful as I would have started earlier. Photos may look good, but many bands don't look good up close. Photos before, after primer and after 1 can. I did the rows one at a time from bottom to top as was said.
