Pulp removal improvement

I have been using the Omega VSJ843RS slow juicer for 18 months now, usually 5 days a week. It replaced the discontinued Breville low speed juicer. Both juicers have essentially the same moving parts: an auger, a strainer, a rotating brush, and a juice cup that extracts the juice and pulp. Crate. I juice beets cut into small pieces daily as part of this juice. Beetroot is probably the toughest vegetable that the snail can shred with the filter basket. Lately, even though I'm slowly adding vegetables to the hopper, my juicer has been groaning and even stopping. I found that the source of stress on the juicer was not being able to freely extract the pulp from the juice bowl. Upon inspection, I saw that the removable rubber stopper on the side of the juicer's motor shaft was located just over the hole used to extract the pulp. I concluded that its tongue-shaped conical plug interfered with pulp removal. Since I decided to either repair or replace this juicer to make it work better, I went ahead with my "juicing hack". What I did was pull the bung out of the juicing bowl and then use scissors to cut off the tongue shaped portion of the bung that was behind the three ribbed ribs that attach the bung to the hole. Much to my delight, the pulp comes out of the juicer more freely without stopping the engine. The second trick, which you've probably already figured out, is to apply plant spray to the threads of the locking screw at the base of the upper funnel to make it easier to remove from the juice cup for cleaning. Hope that helps. Keep making juice.
