Review on Aqueon Aquarium Cleaning Magnets: The Ultimate Solution for Effortless Tank Maintenance by Wanda Johns

Definitely not small and not without scratches

I bought this clean Aqueon brand 5 gallon acrylic table top tank assuming the tank manufacturer has the right product to clean it. Unfortunately, the blue spacer made specifically for acrylic aquariums left scratches on my 1 month old acrylic aqueon. Luckily I tested a small portion of the tank, not the entire faceplate. But the scratched mark is still visible. And "small" is not small at all. The cleaning half of the magnet measures 2 3/8" x 1 1/2" and is 5/8" deep *not including* the weighted bulb on the bottom, making the entire assembly a full 3" long and 1" " is long. If you have plants and aquarium decorations close to the aquarium walls, you can't move this cleaning magnet around them without disturbing everything. I think I have to use a paper towel by hand every time I make a water This "small" can come in handy for large tanks or most empty tanks, but there's little reason to rip it apart unless you know you have glass that can handle the abrasion of the blue felt pad I wouldn't even try using a rough black backing - not even on tempered glass.
