This is a nice little sealed container. Mine arrived with a deep scratch on the bottom. This must have been done prior to shipment as the container was packaged in a plastic bag and could not be scraped through the bag without damaging the bag. There is no doubt that this container is sealed. The lid is very difficult to remove. To remove it, I have to hold the container with one hand while pulling on the lid with the other. I totally have a feeling I'm going to make a mess one day when the lid pops open and I spill the contents of the jar all over the kitchen. The plastic seal can be easily removed from the lid of the container for easy cleaning. Without a seal, however, the lid will not sit properly. It would be more like a small leaky cookie jar.
