Review on Dustpan Cleans Handle Kitchen Upright by Jennifer Mounce

HUGE improvement over my last set

We recently moved and I left the dust pan and broom in the hall. (First, a lobby dustpan is the best way to save your back and clean up quickly. From a longer handle to a bin that holds swept trash, there are several but important reasons to invest in one, though they do are more expensive than a traditional one, the difference is that the price is more than worth it.Plus they are just as easy to store with your brooms/mops.) This particular set is an improvement over my previous set in the following ways: The Die Dust box itself has a beveled rubber liner on the front that allows you to sweep away the smallest particles. (My old one didn't have an insert so I had to do the sweep-pull sweep-pull dance.) . This then has strong teeth at the tip of the dustpan. So if the broom picks up hair/dust/lint that would normally get caught in the bristles, you can now "comb" the broom with your teeth. (Otherwise you have to reach and pull with your hand, which isn't the worst thing, but if you can avoid it - why not? It also helps with my allergies.) Very compact together (or even separate if hooked preferred). The materials are good: a plastic dustpan, metal handles that aren't too heavy and don't feel cheap, and nylon bristles that are dense but very flexible, making them easy to sweep under furniture. Easy to rinse and dry all parts. I don't mind the narrower width compared to some brooms because I don't think a wider brush makes it easier to clean around the house. It's easy to pull out and put away every day. The ONLY reason I'm giving it 4 stars out of 5 (in fact, I wish I could list it at 4.5 stars) is because there was a large manufacturer's sticker on the scoop. / Label (it covered the entire top of the pan) whose adhesive didn't come off easily. Could it be the hot weather? (It arrived neatly packaged and was very easy to assemble.) So I spent about 30 minutes assembling and cleaning it. As a consumer who knows there are ways to avoid this (e.g. thin cardboard sleeves or using 4 dots of glue in the corners) this is worth considering. That won't stop me from buying another set so I can have a pair in my house. (I would use this outside or in an unfinished garage as there are other types of brooms - like a push brush or a brush with slightly stiffer bristles for picking up dried dirt/stains - they do a better job of the job.) But indoors am I very happy with it.

Pros
  • . Dustpan locks in open position so contents can be easily thrown into bin without spilling.
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
