I researched many products with dog doors before purchasing this Plexidoor product. I chose this unit based on the perceived quality of build and the availability of detailed product installation instructions. They also measure their products based on the size of your pets. It was definitely more expensive than the alternatives, but as many people often say, "you get what you pay for". Installation took most of the day and I did it without unhinging the door as it was a new door that had just been hung. My advice is take your time, measure carefully and use the template provided to mark the holes to be drilled. Be careful with fiberglass doors when drilling. After final assembly, the door works great. Our dogs picked it up almost immediately after a little persuasion (with a treat, of course). After a full winter I can say that she has served us well. We saved money on heating oil in winter and on air conditioning (electricity) in summer. We live in a semi-rural area with lots of living things including deer so dogs can hunt without winning or scratching on doors. I highly recommend this product, especially when compared to competing products that use cheap hinged doors.
