These doors are AMAZING. They're bull terrier-proof too!

This is the third PlexiDoor I have purchased and installed. Not because they're broken or worn out, but because I've moved and needed another one for my new home. The last one was in use for 10 years and still worked! Note: I have two English Bull Terriers and even my bullies can't wear this thing down. This is a real test of strength. These doors are weather resistant and you'll save ten times as much on air conditioning and heating for what you pay for one door - they really pack a punch.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Tinting is a good idea but a safety issue for the dog

This is the second door I have bought. The other door stood for about 20 years. Please note this unit has tinted glass and if you have a metal panel on the door to prevent dogs walking in and out they will not be able to see the panel from the outside due to the tint. You will try to run through the door and could hurt yourself with the plate. Another door I had came with a white decal and no tint on the glass. The dogs could see the plate was down and tried not to run in. Toning is a good…

SOLID and my dog loves it

super! Keeps my Pitt/Boxer 68# where it needs to be. The lock alone didn't hold up when someone was doing maintenance on my house. He is very protective and has a hard head. He tried to go through the door and bent the bolt but did not damage the door or the plexiglass. I was able to fix the lock. I bought extra rails and just installed the skid plate in place. No problem! Strong, but the door creaks somewhere in a month. Not that bad so I don't forget to apply WD-40. Maintains fairly good…

Stop looking for cheap dog doors. This will be the last you buy!

So it was really hard for me to spend that much money on a dog flap but I'm so glad I did. I have 10 Miniature Schnauzers and I usually change the latch on a regular dog door about once a year. The wings seem to be about half the cost of the entire door, so after a few years that really adds up. After reading reviews from people with Labs who have had the same door for over 10 years I figured it must be good. The feathers are heavier so I had to block one side for about a week before everyone…

The best design and thoughtful dog door on the market

I researched many products with dog doors before purchasing this Plexidoor product. I chose this unit based on the perceived quality of build and the availability of detailed product installation instructions. They also measure their products based on the size of your pets. It was definitely more expensive than the alternatives, but as many people often say, "you get what you pay for". Installation took most of the day and I did it without unhinging the door as it was a new door that had just…

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Let's be honest. No one wants to pace up and down to open a door like dogs want in and out. So now I have two of these doors. They're durable, strong and secure, which means nothing gets in or out if I don't want it to. I use the large size for my Lab/Goldie mix who weighs 85 pounds, but the salon style swing doors open easily with my 15 pound terrier mix. It gets very cold where I live, these doors retain heat while working efficiently and sealing well. Can't say enough good things about her…

Large door missing 1 feature

I was very happy to find a dog door big enough for my Great Danes. It's huge. And my husband and I can get through this on our own. This thing is well made and I like the saloon style doors more than the hinged ones. It also seems to have a pretty good seal - although in winter we get a better idea of how much air is escaping. The doors are so heavy that I *hope* squirrels can't open them even if they try. Our 11 week old Great Dane puppy took to it straight away and had no problems. Our 11…

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • New competition available

Firstly, this product is at the forefront of mechanical (not electric) dog doors and for the money the quality, fit and finish should be better. The other shocking aspect of adding a slide rail, aside from the extra $90 on top of an already high price, doesn't really offer security. The skid plate was originally designed to be bolted into the frame, making the 1/16th sheet metal a little more resistant to penetration. With the addition of slide guides, all bets are off. A so-called "protective…

Update This is my 3rd plexiglass, 4th dog door

The first dog door was homemade, cutting a hole in a boarded up basement window and making interior and exterior doors from different materials until I found a puppy did not die in the relatively warm Salt Lake City, Utah. At the next house, in relatively cold and snowy Northwood, Wisconsin, I bought a Plexidor wall mount. This was good news as no random squirrels, mice, skunks, porcupines, meth makers or other rabble would get in, and dogs like to stick their heads in and peek out from time to

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly crumpled
