The bristles should be sparse, gentle!
Some reviewers complain that the bristles aren't thick or strong enough (my paraphrase) but they don't have to be! They should give small, light things like a few grains of dust or eraser crumbs a very subtle, light shine. You shouldn't disturb anything else. The brush works great and is an incredible value. I gifted it to my bibliophile husband who likes to repair and conserve where necessary. There are many durable brushes in the world, including a fresh clean brush. This brush was designed to solve specific tasks.
