I had an electrician replacing a broken switch and he was kind enough to show me how to do it himself. He recommended I get a voltage tester and said it's an electrician's best friend. I was able to confirm that the power was off at the switch I was about to pull. It does an excellent job of checking if power is working on outlets as well as troubleshooting. It's a handy little tool that can save lives. I didn't read their instructions and it's pretty easy to use. Just press and hold the power button for 2 seconds to turn it off. Definitely worth paying $10 so you don't get electrocuted or electrocuted when changing switches from the panel by yourself. This little gadget comes highly recommended.
