Good range for the price

Compositions and range good for the price. You'll probably use some of these more than others, but this is still a good "starter" set. A few points: - I would give this one another star, but these blocks are completely unmarked. Even for such cheap prices, they may include some sort of labeling or cheat sheet. I ended up using small zippered snack bags and labeling them. I've tried: Green, White, "Matte Brown" (actually a lighter, orange stick), and "Obsidian Red" (this one is the darker, brownest-looking one). The image showing the degree of roughness was accurate for these four and I have no reason to doubt the last two. Many reviews say they are "rock hard" or "dry". They are designed for mechanical cutting/polishing with something like a bench grinder or drill and a cloth wheel. You run a high speed cloth over it and it builds up heat that softens the material. If you try to use a hand polishing cloth, it won't work.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
