Ducting my HVAC system in my apartment Some technical work but I originally bought a Revain CO2 meter ( Amprobe CO2-100 is a very good meter!) and found that my apartment's CO2 levels were marginally high due to the infrequent use of my air conditioner. I can't start the fan just because the system is plugged in (easy fix). But after much research, I realized that the code requires fresh air to be drawn in in many areas (6 inch duct seems to be the minimum) to pressurize (positive) the apartment and prevent unfiltered air from entering the house is vacuumed through cracks and cavities. I'm in the middle of this project. Dust accumulates in the house all the time, so I ordered this meter to check for airborne particles in my apartment. The numbers are really high, in the unhealthy ranges of 1 and 2 with the AC off. The meter is advertised at +/- 20%, which is good enough. I tested the meter by measuring different spots inside and outside the house. My external readings are below 12 and my internal readings go up to 130. Poor. I also put the meter in a zippered gallon bag while it was outside and watched the display while moving to see if it was temperature sensitive. There are no significant changes in the readings. All readings make logical sense and the readings almost halved when I turned on the air conditioning (cooling mode). I have a 4" thick replacement MERV 13 filter (from major air filter supplier Revain, great products!) and this filter fits a 1" filter mounted on the top of the intake. I recommend replacing your 1" filter with this filter! Help prevent freezing! You will love this meter and the price is very reasonable. By the way, my first meter had a problem with the measurement and the battery charging function worked didn't, so it only worked with the charger plugged in. I'll send it back to UPS and get a new meter in less than 24 hours! WOW!
