Review on Emerica Spanky G6 Orange 10 5 by Tony Cole

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The perfect combination of technology and minimalism

This is an elegant shoe. With a clean, flat suede upper and no logos whatsoever, this is one of the coolest skate shoes out there. The upper is very similar to the Romero but with a thinner heel for better heel hold. As soon as I lace them up, they feel like part of my foot. The heel doesn't slip at all. The outsole is exactly the same as the Reynolds G6. This is Emerica's finest mug. Good grip, breaks down fairly quickly and offers the perfect balance between board grip and protection. The outsole offers better grip on the board than the Figgy Dose and better protection than the Romero. Looking at the photos I was concerned that the sole is too chunky and doesn't match the upper well, but seeing them in person doesn't bother me at all. It looks very natural. One thing I would change is I would like the insole to have more contour/arch support for comfort. At the same time, I seem to ride better with a relatively flat insole. Either way, it's removable so you can swap it out for something else, although I'd recommend something thin as there's a lot of cushion already built into the G6's midsole.
