Review on ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ StarTech.com 4 Port Triple Monitor DVI USB KVM Switch - Multi Monitor KVM with Audio & USB Hub (SV431TDVIUA), Black by Jontrell Fernandes

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Everything is great EXCEPT keyboard and no cables

PROS: WORKS, video quality is excellent, rack mountable, responsive CONS: Keyboard issue and no cables Long review: I read the review posted by Ansury on 6/25- 11 . I saw his keyboard problem but decided I wouldn't have the same problem or if I did I would find a working solution and bought a 2 port 4 monitor KVM switch. I also had enough cords so I didn't have to buy them, but it emptied my stash. He arrived on time. It arrived well packaged and as advertised. I used rack mounting brackets to mount it under my desk and it worked great. When I upgraded my 1 monitor, 2 port KVM to this, I also swapped out the keyboard and mouse. When I first started using it, I had the same issues as Ansury: stuck buttons and missing buttons. I type it in and it doesn't show up on the screen :(. I swapped the mouse and keyboard connectors (mouse-to-keyboard connector and keyboard-to-mouse connector). I noticed that the USB connectors on the ends of the usb cables were VERY warm when i disabled them to move them, the keyboard is bigger than the mouse, this REALLY solved the problem of missing and stuck keys, my mouse didn't show any side effects because it was in the keyboard connector I miss the CTRL shortcut commands, now I can. Do not use CTRL + CTRL + (1 or 2) to switch ports on KVM as KVM only listens on the dedicated keyboard port and since the keyboard is not on it port, I can't use keyboard shortcuts or cables - that's what makes me give 4 stars instead of 5.

Pros
  • Fits a lot of people
Cons
  • Reliability
