I didn't like the idea of detaching the passenger seat. I unpacked it and was done, but I didn't. There was no reason for me to loosen it as I couldn't tighten it like it was factory and I'm not sure if that would compromise security. This was my choice too. I also didn't like where it would land on my Jeep Wrangler. He was too low. For that I would get one that fits in a cup holder. I was looking for something that didn't require me to take my eyes off the road too much. Not while driving, of course, but even at traffic lights I prefer to keep an eye on the traffic in case some idiot runs a red stop sign. etc. This is my opinion. Maybe it works better on a smaller car. and I bought the one with the long neck and I don't think that was enough for me. Now the product was sturdy and very well made, which I liked better than what I bought later. All in all a great product, just not for my car.
