Quite soft on the inside for a bald man (due to chemotherapy). I ordered in white. It's so crunchy and tender. I used the blow dryer on medium power as suggested to fluff up the pom pom and it worked great. I love this hat. I really wish it was a little smaller to fit my head entirely without the excess on top.... I understand it's made to accommodate people with hair (even those with a lot of hair) and mine will eventually grow back.
