Review on πŸ” AMVR Lens Anti-Scratch Ring: Protect Your Myopia Glasses and VR Headset Lens for Oculus Quest, Quest 2, Rift S or Oculus Go by Jerry Forehand

Get these if you wear glasses.

This is a real find if you have horrible eyes. I thought I could do VR without glasses; that the proximity of the lenses in the Oculus Rift S trick my eyes into thinking they're not terrible. nope; It seems that my brain still interprets the virtual distance as real and applies the depth of field of my real eyes (kinda totally distorted) to the virtual landmarks I see through the lenses. What I see is the fact that the standard Rift S pads are too thin to fit on my glasses. (And I think most people do too.) Thank goodness for AMVR and their production of essential VR accessories like these new pads. They are easy; They and their adapters (to fit the lenses) appear to be 3D printed. They are the same shape as the standard shims so (when reinforced with the adapters provided) they fit over the lens in the same way as the standard shims. I wasn't willing to experiment with the right pad thickness. , and risk scratching my prized VR lenses - although I once experimented with my glasses using standard spacers, I didn't get any scratches and consider myself lucky. So I went straight to the thickest ones and they work! Now I don't have to worry about scratches on my VR lenses, at least not on my glasses. You might think that $20 is too high a price for simple 3D printed plastic parts that weigh less than an ounce. BUT the reassurance that we don't have to spend a potentially much larger sum on interchangeable lenses, which are undoubtedly more difficult to install than these, is worth the perceived extra cost to me. THANK YOU AMVR! [According to the picture - because the lenses are still so close to your face when you use them, you still only see black and no complementary colors, so you aren't distracted. I only chose colors because why not? A little extra style to watch out for when not using VR.]

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
