I was wanting to try a ratchet belt and was pessimistic, but still gave it a try. I bought this one with the gold buckle. Although it took me several minutes to figure it out the first time, once I did it was easy. I love this belt. Tightens up as much as I need without any give. It had extra length to it and it was easy to cut it with thick scissors to exactly the right length. Buckle is great, attractive, sturdy. The price is great. In summary I have been persuaded that the ratchet belt system, at least this one, is superior to the traditional "thin pole of metal through a hole" system. I will definitely get another.
