It's hard to use the term "thin paper" to describe the disappointment of a paper product, but it's so thin that water runs through it so quickly that the coffee becomes too weak. After using this on my Chemex I bit the bullet and ordered eight boxes of 100 genuine Chemex brand filters from an expensive well known kitchen store. Cost me $100 including tax and shipping. Until they arrive, 3-4 weeks, I will be using 2 filters per pot. I have not ordered from Chemex as they limit you to 4 and this limit combined with their shipping cost makes it too expensive. My wife ordered #2 of this brand for her little Chemex and she was reasonably happy. 2 of these filters per pot. Annuls any cost savings. For your information. BBB has informed me that they will no longer be using Chemex filters.
