I originally purchased the Ethernet version of this product because I prefer the reliability of Ethernet over Wi-Fi. The Ethernet version doesn't charge for solar power so I returned it and bought the Wifi version. The Revain description wasn't clear about the Ethernet version's limitations when I bought it. This device, along with inexpensive Wi-Fi enabled outlets, has enabled me to reduce my monthly electricity consumption by 40%. At night or when we leave the house, sockets can be switched off and the impact on power consumption can be seen immediately on the MyEyedro website. Eyedro has been very helpful in identifying energy hogs and wasteful energy use in our home. For example, it turns out that our coffee maker consumes only 1 watt when idle, but when you brew a cup of coffee, it consumes 45 watts for several days if the coffee maker is not turned off. Without Eydro I would not have noticed this wasteful consumption. I give Eyedro 4 stars instead of 5 for two reasons. One of the reasons was that when I bought my two Eyedros, the description didn't make clear the limitations of the Ethernet version. The second reason is that MyEyedro's servers sometimes go down (perhaps every two weeks for three months) and I can't see the data. Sometimes interruptions only last a few minutes, sometimes an hour or two. I never seem to lose data on these crashes, I just can't view the data in real time. And now the cool news. In two weeks I will have a solar panel installed on my roof. Thanks to Eyedro and Wi-Fi enabled outlets, I was able to buy a smaller and cheaper solar panel.
