I didn't include a photo because I painted mine and didn't want to embarrass anyone with the paint. I bought the chrome and painted it with oiled bronze (because I'm a cheapskate and it saved me a few bucks). So yes, you can paint them any color without pre-treatment (sanding). I simply used my trusty Rust-Oleum and sealed the plastic lampshade with duct tape to keep it out there. I couldn't believe how light they are! I didn't even need anchors (although they are much appreciated). It has two settings (one lighter and one slightly darker) and is very easy to install. I had this idea a long time ago (battery powered wall light) but didn't know how to implement it. I love homes with built in sconces, but I'm new to electricity so I've never tried installing real electric lights. Now I do not need! I will buy more because the quality and price can't be better.
