Heel moves up and down too much - no heel lock

Shoes are soft and comfortable and fit as expected. When I see "running" shoes, I think of heavy walking. I used to run but can't run anymore due to injuries, age and weight so I have to run instead. But I need to walk for serious exercise, not just for the occasional walk. I don't think this shoe is intended for serious walking. The biggest problem is that the heel area is too loose so my heel keeps moving up and down in the shoe. When running in running shoes, I can usually solve this problem by tying my laces into a "toe lock" (sometime called a heel lock). But to tie your laces into a lock, you need a weird little hole (I don't know what it's called) just behind the last lace hole, closer to the ankle. This shoe doesn't have that. Thus, your laces are far below the shoe and cannot be brought close enough to the ankle to form a shoelace. I suppose I could take a hole punch and try to punch a hole in the right spot so I can tie my shoelace. But I'm afraid to try. Therefore, due to the heel issue, I don't consider this shoe a serious "hiking shoe". I find it more of a "casual outing" or "walking" shoe. I love Skechers. But now I realize that in order to get a shoe that I can use as a serious "walking" shoe, I need to buy "running shoes". This shoe is not a serious hiking shoe.
