NESDR Mini 2+ by NooElec works great. I am currently using 2 of these connected to Raspberry Pis to collect ADS-B information for Flight Awareness (PiAware). The blocks seem to warm up a bit to the touch, but not enough to be a cause for concern. They also seem to work well enough for SDR with programs like Cubic SDR or GQRX SDR (both for Mac) to pick up everything from local police/fire department/EMS broadcasts to garage door openers in the 315MHz band. It also works well for AM/FM radio and TV broadcasts. Good product at a great price!
