This is a fun toy to explore SDR to see if you like it or not, but its sensitivity isn't nearly as sensitive as it detects weaker signals picks up unless they are very close. I've had a delay in using it as my Windows PC died and I haven't replaced it yet. The upconverter is needed to receive the HF frequencies which I knew before buying so no problem. So I bought this RTL-SDR dongle for the Raspberry Pi project to track plane flights (RTL_TCP/PlanePlotter). This works great with the included antenna (unless you have other high gain antennas).
