Great little ADSB entertainment radio

This simple SDR (Software Defined Radio) plugs into my laptop and then uses two free open source software packages to configure it to display planes in my area. Connecting a Micro USB to USB-C adapter also runs ADS-B in apps on my Samsung tablet. The included antenna is reliable and picks up good signals in my area, assuming I live under the SEATAC approach path. I would advise you to show some skill in downloading and setting up open source applications or opt for an easier way to do this on a

Oh my god what a cool thing

Amazing receiver, very good signal quality even with a tiny antenna. I can get my Acurite 5n1 transducer from all my property! plus a police radio scanner, FM radio stations where my other radio tuners are having signal strength issues. I spent most of the night playing with the device and the GQRX app on my Mac! The application can be obtained through Macports or Homebrew. Another useful application is rtl_433 for receiving weather stations, troubleshooting your car's Tire Pressure Monitoring…

Fun toy External components

This is a fun toy to explore SDR to see if you like it or not, but its sensitivity isn't nearly as sensitive as it detects weaker signals picks up unless they are very close. The included antenna is good enough to pick up local radio stations and other relatively strong transmissions. I was able to pick up at least a dozen FM stations as well as many other programs that I couldn't understand. For the price I can't complain, it was so much fun I stayed up late a couple of times. Nights with…

Great for the price.

I've had a delay in using it as my Windows PC died and I haven't replaced it yet. The upconverter is needed to receive the HF frequencies which I knew before buying so no problem. I'm using it on an old Chromebook (which has some issues) with good FM and weather reception. I think I will like it more when I can use more advanced software with more features. I would recommend it to others without any problems. Finally everything worked, everything is fine. It was just what I needed to get…

Good product at a great price!

NESDR Mini 2+ by NooElec works great. I am currently using 2 of these connected to Raspberry Pis to collect ADS-B information for Flight Awareness (PiAware). The blocks seem to warm up a bit to the touch, but not enough to be a cause for concern. They also seem to work well enough for SDR with programs like Cubic SDR or GQRX SDR (both for Mac) to pick up everything from local police/fire department/EMS broadcasts to garage door openers in the 315MHz band. It also works well for AM/FM radio and…

Great SDR key with many uses.

So I bought this RTL-SDR dongle for the Raspberry Pi project to track plane flights (RTL_TCP/PlanePlotter). This works great with the included antenna (unless you have other high gain antennas). I could track planes at 40,000 feet. About 30 planes were captured during the night. (I live within 10 miles of the airport and in the middle of the US. An added bonus was that I found a web app in Chrome called "Radio" that works on my Chromebook Acer R11. This web app allows me to do that Tune into…

Generally very good!

I've tried several "cheaper" models, they're not bad but drift 30-45PPM errors - when it dropped in price I was dying to have one. I've used it on Windows and Linux (both Debian x86 and RaspberryPi ARM), it seems to work fine, although I had to manually update the drivers on Windows 10 to make it work (Windows Update brought them back, I just had " Say select manually" and click the one you want again). SDR by NooElec not only exceeded my expectations, it far exceeded my expectations! I had a…

Great for the price.

When I first ordered it I wasn't sure I could make it work. There were mixed reviews. Also, I'm not putting this on a Windows machine. This is an old (but still 64-bit) Samsung laptop from which I removed the Win partition and installed Linux Mint. There wasn't anything definitive about using this with Mint, but I figured that for $24 I wouldn't spend much for it (and I thought maybe I'd get a Windows PC again one day). short story. Yes, it took a bit of internet searching and playing around…
