Review on 🌊 Waterproof Hiking GPS: Magellan Meridian Marine Edition by Luke Hodes

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Great technology suffers from poor functionality

Think it would be great to have a boat/car/hiking GPS that works for all three? think again The Magellan GPS MapSend software system makes it almost impossible to use your GPS for more than one of these categories. Can't believe I know I just got mine in the mail yesterday and I already feel cheated. The killer thing is that the inability to switch from BlueNav maps to Topo or Streets is due to DESIGN. There are no software or memory limitations that would prevent a device from using all three MapSend products. A plus. Waypoint management is poor (cannot download from PC to portable device or vice versa without deleting all waypoints stored on receiving device), file transfer is slow (unless you buy additional technology), the belt gets stuck in the middle of the External power/cable attachment screwed connects to the computer/external antenna so you always have to unscrew the strap to attach something else (I mean come on!). I feel like I wasted $500 on an almost useless product. Avoid Magellan is my advice to you. So you always have to unscrew the strap to attach something else (I mean, come on!).
