I got this to change the DVI connector to Mini DisplayPort after the new GPU card had other connectors. On the new AMD R9 280X GPU, the Sapphire version featured 1 DVI, 2m-DP and 1 HDMI. It also works for dual displays running invisibly (separate screens, no image cloning) from a single GPU card. However, to set up three or more monitors from a single card on a desktop workstation, you must use an "active" adapter. Not that.
