Review on BenQ BL2420PT 23.8" Widescreen DisplayPort Monitor - 2560X1440 Resolution, IPS Panel, Built-In Speakers, USB Hub by Luis Jimenez

Updated after a few years. Serious DisplayPort quality issues

Update after a few years: The DisplayPort connection is very unreliable. Pretty good customer service, but I've changed the monitor twice and all three DisplayPort connectors have failed. With every new package I had to wait at home for it to arrive. What a problem. It's frustrating and I probably won't buy a BenQ again. My previous review before the DisplayPort ports failed is unchanged below. === The monitor works great and far exceeds my expectations. Positioned over my Macbook Air, it makes it clear that it is "Retina" quality and my Macbook is not. This monitor has features like an ECO function that knows when I'm leaving and dims the monitor to save power. At such an amazing price, it's unheard of to have an adjustable height, but this great monitor has it. For Mac users, this particular monitor has its own DisplayPort and with no dongles or anything I purchased this cable: Cable Matters Mini DisplayPort (Thunderbolt™ 2-Port Compatible) to DisplayPort Cable Black 3ft - 4K Ready Resolution. Mac Connection: Instant 2560 x 1440. The last time I needed a 2560 monitor I couldn't find one with DisplayPort. What a problem: I had to shell out $100 for an Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link adapter and ditched the USB port. This native DisplayPort Benq monitor fixes this problem.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Bad response time
