Review on LG 27UP850-W: Borderless, HDR Display with Height & Pivot Adjustment, Anti-Glare Coating by Bryan Whitehead

This monitor (with UP in code for 2021) is an updated version of its predecessor, now with more power over USB-C and reportedly better color reproduction. The stand may be ugly and plastic, but it's surprisingly comfortable to use. Everything else is mediocre. But if you have a 15-16-inch MacBook Pro, it's basically the only mid-range 4K monitor that gives you more than the standard 60W that the idiots in the peripheral industry have settled for. Most 27 inch 4k IPS monitors made these days have terrible white uniformity. You can easily see the problem from most of the photos posted by customers. The right and left edges of the screen get noticeably darker, to the point where you feel the screen is meant to emulate the feeling of fainting. The fact that LG can sell this range for more than 5 years with this problem shows how terrible and abandoned the desktop monitor market is right now (compared to the much more competitive TV market). And it's not just the vignetting that's annoying, but also the crappy settings interface, the product's anti-customer name, etc. Basically, this monitor comes across as a giant F-du to the consumer, from a giant company doesn't care, what you think because they know you have no other options. I can't wait for Apple to finally release its supposedly cheaper display in the next year or two. I would happily pay double or triple for a 27 inch 4k monitor with a certain level of quality.
